About your therapist…

Trying to find the right therapist can feel overwhelming. You should take time to explore and consider your needs. Finding a therapist that is a good fit is important for you to have a positive experience and outcome.

Therapists can approach the process from different perspectives and have different theories they work from. My approach is client-centered and collaborative and I use theories that are empirically supported and can be measured to ensure you reach your goals.

Here are some things to consider as you consider me.

You will find me a good fit if…

You are a client ready to invest the time and effort to do this sacred work. The truth is, this is your journey, and it begins when you say so! Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise.

There is no miracle worker; although, I have seen some miracles and amazing breakthroughs. There are positive situations that nurture you and create a space for you to make positive change. These moments are powerful and just as moving for client and therapist.

You want a therapist that is an active participant and willing to challenge and help you get outside of old narratives that get you stuck. I am not going to just nod and agree. After all, you are looking for something different including growth and change from the status quo.

you want to know a bit more

I love the therapeutic process and believe in doing my own work as well, so I practice what I preach. My path to becoming a therapist was a curvy road of finding success as a professional and then asking, “what now?” I am truly a seeker of trying to find purpose and meaning in what I am doing in the world and my passion as a lifelong learner led me down this road. While the first part of my life seemed more happenstance, this second half is all about intentional choice and I love doing this work. There is nothing better than helping someone stand in a depression and move through it. Or, work with a couple that is facing a crisis and helping them reconnect and repair old hurts.

It may be comforting to those of you interested in the detail to know that I graduated with honors and a 4.0 GPA. Chi Sigma Iota, an honor society that is invitation only, invited and initiated me in 2014. This is an organization recognizing clinical excellence. My studies were rigorous and very serious to me because I want to be the best therapist for my clients. I am constantly reading and updating myself to stay fresh on current research and best practices. I seek out training and expertise in my specialty areas. My internship and practicum was at The Refuge Center for Counseling in Franklin, TN, where I counseled individuals, couples, families, and adolescents. I have also worked as a therapist with Georgia Hope, a community-based therapy practice helping individuals, families, and children.

I incorporate therapeutic approaches that are empirically supported by research with positive outcomes and measurable throughout the therapeutic process to ensure you are meeting your goals. Here are some of the models I use:

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Solutions-focused Therapy

Narrative

Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT)

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)

Grief Recovery
